JAMIE DIAZ is a Mexican-American trans woman and artist based in Dallas, Texas.

Jamie became a self-taught artist and musician in the 1970s inspired by underground comics, rock music, tattoo artists such as Ed Hardy and Cliff Raven, and the Dutch masters—Vermeer, Rembrandt, Van Gogh.

Over the past decade, Jamie has become known for her growing body of queer art. She has inspired many in the LGBTQ+ community by conveying love, beauty, and the resilience of the human spirit even in the presence of suffering and persecution. Her debut solo exhibition, Even Flowers Bleed (Daniel Cooney Fine Art, 2022), received praise in publications such as Artforum, Them, and NBC OUT.

Jamie’s first full length comic book, Queer Angels & Devils: The Table of Immortals, was published by A.B.O. Comix in 2024. Her art has also been featured in numerous publications and anthologies.

Jamie’s life is the subject of a short documentary film called “Love, Jamie” (dir. Karla Murthy), which was awarded the Grand Jury Prize for Outstanding Documentary Short Film when it premiered at Outfest Los Angeles 2023. The film is now streaming on PBS American Masters.
